María Langarita

Graduated Architect since 2003 from Universidad de Navarra (Spain), has a Phd degree in Architecture from Madrid Polytechnic University (UPM) in 2016. She is co-founder and head of the architecture office Langarita-Navarro since 2005 along with Victo Navarro. The work of the office has been recognized with the Special Mention of Mies van der Rohe Award 2013 and with several other prizes as XII BEAU Prize, FAD Prize 2012, ar+d Award for Emerging Architecture 2012, AD Heineken Award to the New Talents 2013 or COAM Prize 2013. Their work has been selected to be exhibited in different places and events, including the 6th Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism of Shenzhen 2015, the XI Biennale di Venezia in 2008 and 2014. She has been the director of XII BEAU – UIMP summer course.

She has a deep experience in education. Since2013 she is Lecturer in Madrid Polytechnic University (UPM) in the MHP (Master Degree Program) and in the MPAA (Postgraduate Master of Advanced Architectural Projects). She was Studio Professor in the University of Alicante (Escuela de Arquitectura Universidad de Alicante) from 2011 to 2013 and Universidad San Jorge of Zaragoza (USJ) from 2009 to 2011.  She also has been advisor of many Graduated Thesis Projects and in this moment she is co-directing a Doctoral Thesis

Her designer activity is accompanied by a research project called “Busto and Pellejo” (Bust&Pelt), an exploration around the consistency of the material city. The preliminary result of this ongoing project has been presented in several exhibition, lectures and debates on which can be highlighted the SOLID Harvard GSD Series published by the a+t magazine, the 6th Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism of Shenzhen (2015) and in the coming months will be performed and exhibited at LIGA Panamá financed by AC/E (Acción Cultural Española, Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
